Glyndwr University welcomed Bauman Moscow State Technical University counterparts to Wrexham for an International conference on "Advanced Composite Materials".
The event, held at the Catrin Finch Centre on the university campus was inspired by the 50th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin becoming the first man to fly into space. Glyndwr University is now leading the way in Wales with its research into composite materials of which is a key component in developing the next generation of aircraft and our Conference was a superb example of what can be achieved when knowledge is shared across institutions internationally.
Our relationship with Bauman University continues to flourish, this being a result of Glyndwr Innovations, International Office and our Engineering School working collaboratively with Bauman Professors of the highest calibre in Manufacturing and Engineering on research and joint degree programs
During the three day conference Professors in Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering covered a wide range of subject areas evidencing the possibilities of what can be achieved when working in collaboration, subject areas covered at the conference ranged from “Yuri Gagarinʼs flight, the composite materials and technologies development” to “The increase of durability of polymer matrix composite materials based on Nanomodification of the binding”.
Bauman University in its 80 year history has educated more than 3000 engineers within its Manufacturing and Engineering faculty, 250 students becoming doctors of science. Within the faculty 48 professors and teachers deliver courses on 135 subjects to 2500 students annually.
Glyndwr University continue now to work with Bauman University on similar projects over 2011/2012, already identifying synergy’s in methodology and have identified dates in June 2012 for the next International Conference.
