Glyndwr University Live at Autosport 2012

Business

January 25

Some of the biggest names in Motor Sport were at The annual Autosport International Show which took place from January 12-15 at Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre. Glyndwr University teamed up with local Company Polybush for the 2012 show. Polybush based at Wrexham Industrial Estate are the world leader in Polyurethane Suspension Bushes and Components.

Glyndwr University work closely with Polybush on a daily basis, so it seemed only right to work with them at Autosport 2012.
Performance Car Technology students with advice from Senior Lecturer Olivier Durieux from Glyndwr University took a standard road car and over the 4 days of the show prepared the car for the 2012 Production GTI Championship.

The Golf MK2 prepared live at the show and the car will go on to be raced by the Glyndwr Students in the 2012 Championship proving that motor racing is a sport for all levels of experience and budgets.
With the full range of VW Polybush and a range of parts from kind sponsors Safety Devices, Fast Road Conversions, Corbeau, Luke, Saxon Motorsport, Hel, Spax & Demon Tweeks along with many others we completed our task.

Kim Wright (Glyndwr Innovations) was also on hand throughout the show to meet with businesses and offer advice on the services Glyndwr can offer businesses such as consultancy and training. Kim said, “It was a fantastic opportunity for Glyndwr University to promote the skills that are passed on to our students and for them then to show to the Motorsport world exactly what they can do.

The stand was busy throughout the exhibition, all eager to see what our students were doing and asking questions in relation to their ability and the university in general.

The exhibition also showed the excellent partnership Glyndwr & Polybush have which hopefully will continue for years to come. It was also an invaluable business networking opportunity, which I am sure will bring further collaborations and invaluable partnerships for the University.

Thanks to all of you for visiting our stand and helping to make the show a huge success.
