Success of ILM Qualification with NWDA

Training Activities

July 01

18 volunteer mentors for the North West Development Agency have successfully completed the Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM) Certificate in Executive Coaching and Leadership Mentoring at Glyndwr University.

Glyndwr University are currently approximately half way through their 24 month contract with the North West Development Agency to deliver the ILM (Institute of Leadership & Management) Level 7 Certificate in Executive Coaching & Leadership Mentoring to 50 delegates across Northwest England

The ILM qualification is designed to provide practicing senior leaders and managers with the knowledge, skills and confidence to perform effectively as coaches/mentors as part of their normal work role.  The qualification involved delegates critically reviewing their own ability to perform effectively as a leadership mentor or executive coach, engaging in peer mentoring.  In addition delegates reviewed their role and contribution of coaching and mentoring to individuals and organisations, in addition to undertaking at least 12 hours of leadership mentoring or executive coaching.

A further 22 delegates are currently half way through their qualification which is due to be completed by July 2011, with a further 10 delegates enrolling onto the course in April 2011.

Caroline Stanton, Glyndwr University ILM Centre said: “By investing in management development, organisations can ensure that their leaders are confident in their abilities and able to lead employees through the challenging times ahead. Nurturing efficient leaders through management development is the single most cost-effective investment an organisation can make to enhance the performance and efficiency of its staff.”

Congratulations to all the delegates who successfully completed the course.
