Glyndwr University's Computing and Communications Technology Department working in partnership with Trackyou Ltd

Trackyou is based on the Wrexham Industrial Estate and is a telemetry service provider, supplying vehicle tracking and fleet management services to companies and the public sector.  In 2008, the firm was nominated for Wales Fast Growth 50 firms.

Trackyou's web based applications enables monitoring and alerting on live movements and events through the use of GPS and GPRS technologies.   Two way messaging capabilities are also provided via an integrated fixed data terminal using GPRS networks.

Whilst Trackyou maintains its own IT department which deals with existing company hardware and software, it required additional expertise, and knowledge to develop new features relating to over the air messaging, satellite navigation and three new and bespoke data terminals.

The academic expertise within Glyndwr University's Computing and Communications Technology Department will enable the production of three new integrated products, each with different price points and functionality.  In addition to this, the partnership will also facilitate the embedding of specialist knowledge across the company in order improve Trackyou’s developmental opportunities in the future, placing Trackyou in a unique position in the market place.

The collaboration between Trackyou and Glyndwr University will provide case studies for undergraduate projects and placements and will support curriculum development.  Furthermore, the knowledge and experience gained from this KTP program will enhance the teaching and research skills of the academic team and lead to further research proposals being prepared in the future.
