In the Research Assessment Exercise 2008 the Centre performed well in the art and Design Unit of assessment with 45% of the reserach deemed to be at least of internationally recognised or internationally excellent quality (2* and 3* ratings) and a further 55% deemed to be of nationally recognised quality (1* rating).

Examples of Research Activities:

Cerys Alonso, Elizabeth Edwards and Adam Cooke collaborated on developing the area of e-publishing initially linked to the Digital Consortia project content by using arduino devices to drive digital image content, and tagging objects to reveal additional information to the viewer.

Pauline Amphlett has been investigating the potential of social networks to alumni, with a view to developing professional practice within the curriculum. She has also been contributing as a member of the ADM-HEA steering group for the Creative Industries and Productive Relationships project in Wales.

Stuart Edwards has produced a number of commissioned films for the local community, local schools and with the local health service.

Sion Hughes has been undertaking work documenting indigenous fishing communities in the Tamil Nadu region of India.

Susan Liggett has been collaborating with Karen Heald (Leeds Metropolitan University) on an exhibition assisted by SAFLE for a local NHS trust.

John McClenaghen has maintained his collaboration with Alec Shepley (University of Lincoln) which will result in an exhibition at the Avenue Gallery, in Northampton. His ongoing collaboration with the School of Computing and Communications Technology on a virtual learning environment entitled "Digital Action Research Collaboration" (DARC) was awarded a University Fellowship.

Wrexham Science Festival 2010 - Business Breakfast Launch

The Festival launched on Thursday 1st July 2010, where Lesley Griffiths, Deputy Minister for Science Innovation and Skills officially opened the Business Breakfast event at Glyndwr University.
