The Centre for Sustainable Enterprise Research (CESER) has grown since its inception in 2007 to form a knowledge base which this year has contributed to the Welsh Assembly Government’s (WAG) initiatives on Sustainability. Through its support of sustainable education and global citizenship, CESER has begun joint work with the Malaysian Government through the Small to Medium Industries Development Corporation (SMIDEC) on sustainable models for enterprise development with a specific focus on enterprise and enterprises that present new models of ecological sustainability and social justice. This is central to the success of a knowledge-driven economy.

CESER is committed to working with organizations and government (regional and national), in promoting and nurturing the symbiotic relationship that must exist between individuals, organizations and society. The Centre’s objectives support the delivery of the Government’s economic development strategy (‘Wales: A Vibrant Economy’), undertaking appropriate actions which will increase levels of economic competitiveness to global standards and support the sustainability of such improvements.

The Research Centre has played an integral part in Glyndŵr Business School achieving the WAG contract to develop a Centre of Excellence in Leadership and Management with Cardiff Business School.

Examples of Other Research Activities:

The Business School continues to bring together academia and representative groups of the Welsh Business Community at events, particularly those in manufacturing, such as the pan Wales organizations: the Manufacturing Advisory Service Wales (MAS), DNA Wales, The Wales Quality Centre, The Engineering Education Centre Wales, The Engineering Employers Federation (EEF), SEMTA and the Welsh Automotive Forum.

The School organized several research-based seminars such as:

  • Public Sector Networking Seminar (by Dr. Alexis McLean and Jan Green)
  • Business Excellence in Quality Management (by David Phillips, CEO Wales Quality Centre).

The School was again a key contributor to business development in North Wales through Wrexham Business Week, where it held seminars and workshops. The School has worked closely with employers; with specific relationships developed with Airbus in the development of lean management and supply chain and transport.
