Leadership and Management Wales

Leadership Management Wales (LMW), a new Welsh Assembly Government funded initiative which is set to encourage business to engage with management leadership development.

The consortium partners, Cardiff University, Glyndwr University and Tattum Guest Associates will together provide an all Wales centre ofexcellence, providing businesses with practical frameworks, case studies and research that will encourage them to think around how they canincrease their efficiency and effectiveness.

Aim

LMW promotes the theory, method and practices associated with the development of managers and leaders in order to help businesses meet the challenges they face and to help them increase their continuing effectiveness, efficiency and profitability.

LMW will provide an information and sign-posting service for businesses to facilitate Leadership & Management Development (LMD), we will:

  •  Developing Learning Networks
     Both physical and virtual
  • Organising Events
    A series of short ‘bring your brain to breakfast’ meetings to highlight the value of contemporary LMD practices.
  • Research
  • LMW will develop a research agenda that seeks to:
    • understand current provision and engagement with LMD in Wales
    • understand practitioners' views on the value of the offering
    • identify and research contemporary LMD theory, practice and provision and disseminate our findings to businesses in Wales
  • Designing and promoting a broad, comprehensive curriculum for leadership and management development based on the results of the research
  • Developing a quality assurance framework that can be used by all providers of leadership and management development programmes in Wales.
  • Publishing a Directory of (quality assured) LMD providers in Wales
  • Develop a Leadership & Management Development Standard based on the IiP model to recognise exemplars of LMD and celebrate their achievements.
